Kutaisi (Georgia) International Black Sea Action Day was celebrated in Kutaisi, which was marked by a week (27 October – 2 No­vember 2018). The International Black Sea Action Day activities actively involved the schools and AkakiTsereteli State University. A meeting with pupils of Kutaisi public school was held at the Akaki Tsereteli State University’s Department of Chemi­cal and Environmental Technologies on sustainable manage­ment of water resources. A lecture was held on “The Black Sea: Current State and Challenges” by ProfessorEmzarGordadze. Environment painting action was organized, which in­volved students of Giorgi Maisuradze Art School and students of the Akaki Tsereteli State University’s Faculty of Technical Engineering specialized in Applied Design.

International Black Sea Day was marked from October 28 to November 2, 2019 by a number of environmental events organized in Kutaisi and Poti.   On October 28, the large-scale cleanup actions were held at several locations on the Black Sea coast in Poti. The action involved: pupils and teachers from eleven public and two private schools of Poti, students of Poti branch of Akaki Tsereteli State University, the Kolkheti National Park staff, representatives of Poti Sea Port Corporation and local gov­ernment, as well as representatives of the Imereti Scien­tists’ Union „Spectri” and Self-Government City of Kutaisi. About 100 bags of waste were collected at the selected lo­cations on the Black Sea coast, disposal of which was pro­vided by Poti City Hall. A total of 222 people were involved in the cleanup actions.   On October 29, a presentation of environmental educa­tional printing and video resources created within the proj­ect was held at Kutaisi City Hall for project partner school teachers and other stakeholders. The teachers noted with great interest the material provided and expressed their views regarding subject matter of these educational re­sources and their practical significance. On October 30, the pupils of the project partner schools organized in Kutaisi an exhibition of various items produced from plastic, textile and paper waste with the motto “Waste is a Useful Resource”. People in city got acquainted with interest with these items.   On October 31, within a Week program, a pupils’ practi­cal conference on “Let Us Protect Rivers and Seas from Pollution” was held at Akaki Tsereteli State University. The confer­ence participants made the interesting presentations on current ecological status of rivers and the Black Sea, environmen­tal problems and preventive measures. A total of 51 pupils from the project partner schools of Imereti region took part in this conference. On November 7, 2019, the students of Eco Club at the Children and Youth Center in Tskaltubo Municipality held a theo­retical conference “Let’s Protect Rivers and Seas from Pollution”, during which presentations were made by pupils from schools of Tskaltubo municipality.
