OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Overall objective<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of the Project was to facilitate the enhancement of the quality of the environment and life in the Black Sea countries through promotion of transboundary partnerships and cooperation in modern waste management.<\/p>\n

Specific objectives:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To increase the capacity of local authorities in Georgia, Moldova and Armenia in waste management through the introduction of innovative practices based on the approaches of the European Union in this field using the example of Romania.<\/li>\n
  2. To enhance cross-border cooperation between local authorities and NGOs of Georgia, Moldova, Armenia and Romania for development of waste management capacities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Introduce the best practices and governance tools of solid waste management for local authorities \u2013 based on EU approaches\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • To organize expert studies of the existing state of waste management by Romanian experts in Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • To organize a cross-border workshop with participation of all partners to discuss the existing environmental situation in partner countries and share Moldavian experience in the field of waste management.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • To develop and publish guidelines on waste management and innovative technologies in English, Romanian, Georgian and Armenian.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • To organize a study tour in Romania for the representatives of Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat for sharing their experiences in municipal waste management.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • To organize a study tour for Armenian participants to Kutaisi to learn the experience of organic waste composting.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • To organize trainings for target groups in waste management and innovative technologies.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • To develop Waste Management Action Plans for Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • To initiate sorted collection of waste in Kutaisi and waste composting in Ararat in pilot territories.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \u00a0<\/em>GROUP OF ACTIVITIES 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Increase target groups\u2019 and public awareness in the field of solid waste management and recycling<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • To organize training-seminars for Environmental NGOs to Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat about waste management modern practices.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • To create a database of the Black Sea Basin Environmental NGOs in Georgia, Moldova and Armenia.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • To organize training-seminars for mass media representatives to Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat about ecological education and waste management.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • To implement environmental educational programmes in pilot schools in Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • To develop a Manual on Waste Management for local authorities and mass media, and Coloring Books for schools in Romanian, Georgian and Armenian.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • To implement an information campaign on general environmental issues, waste management, recycling and composting.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • To implement environmental actions for Black Sea Day in partner countries.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • To establish a Waste Management Public Centre.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Develop and publish booklets about the project in English and native languages.<\/em><\/li>\n

        • Develop and publish posters about the project.<\/em><\/li>\n

            • Municipal services<\/strong> in Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat are responsible for waste collection and disposal.<\/li>\n
            • Local Self-governance offices<\/strong> in Georgia, Moldova and Armenia, to raise their capacity in waste and environmental management.<\/li>\n
            • Environmental NGOs<\/strong> in Georgia, Moldova,\u00a0and Armenia\u00a0to raise their capacity and awareness and gain experience in waste management, particularly in waste sorting issues.<\/li>\n
            • Mass media representatives\u00a0<\/strong>to raise their environmental knowledge and experience that in turn will further communicate information to the population and increase the effectiveness of the publications.<\/li>\n
            • Pilot schools<\/strong> in Kutaisi, Ungheni and Ararat to implement educational programs that raise environmental awareness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
